He would be racing in the Lotus 1000km race at brands hatch in a lotus Elise with driver coach Phil Glew and Sponsor Phill Capstick of KOK support...

The Experience
After 4 hours 10 minutes, 247 laps and classified in P4 at that point, with all things considered the team can hold their heads up high. We were punching well above our weight, competing against cars with up to 200BHP more and with huge budgets. Our lap times were less than a second off those of the big boys. To be in contention shows that we were an exceptionally well oiled team, albeit on a tight budget, but without lady luck on our side.

Jack and the team arrived at Brands Hatch in high spirits after his double success at Rockingham.

Friday saw Jack out in the practice sessions on old rubber as he needed to keep his tyre allocation for the weekends qualifying and races. Even on old rubber Jack put in some very quick times that saw him in P5 & P6 in the free practice sessions. Knowing that these times were achieved on old tyres, Jack was positive going into Saturday’s qualifying session.

Qualifying
As the temperatures soared to new heights the track temperature was also rising to above 29 degrees. In the scorching heat Jack took to the track for the last qualifying session of the season. Within minutes he was P4 with just 3 tenths of a second separating him from pole position.

On his second set of new tyres he found 4 tenths on his flying laps and thought that he had done enough to secure pole position, however several other drivers also found some pace on new tyres and Jack was pushed to P6 for Round 15 and P5 for Round 16 of the Championship.

Jack arrived at Rockingham on Friday feeling confident following a good weekend last time out at Snetterton.

He showed good pace throughout the two free practice sessions and the car felt good on both old and new tyres.

A couple of small mistakes on new tyres stopped Jack showing his true potential; even so he ended the session in P5, only 0.07 off of P1. It was clear going into qualifying it was going to be seriously tight as the top 5 were covered by less than a tenth of a second.

Qualifying

On his first set of new tyres Jack unfortunately got caught up in traffic on his best lap, but it was still good enough to give him provisional pole. A red flag then brought the session to a stop whilst a stricken car was recovered. It was decided with only 6 minutes left to put the 2nd set of new tyres straight on the car, and as he left the pits Jack was feeling confident of going even faster.
He did one warm up lap and pressed straight on with his fast lap. Instantly he went quicker again and this put him 0.35 of a second up on the rest of the field. On the last lap his team mate got within 0.2 of his time, but Jack still had a fair margin and this left him very confident for the races ahead.

After a long break the Air Asia Renault Clio Cup returned last weekend at Snetterton.

Friday’s test day was very positive and Jack returned to the pits after both sessions very happy with the pace and handling of the car.

Qualifying

Jack had superb pace during Saturday’s qualifying session and on his first set of tyres was sitting in P2, 0.3 seconds off pole. With 17 minutes of the session remaining, the red flag stopped the session due to oil on the track. As the rest of the cars returned to the track, Jack remained in the pits to watch the lap times and to ensure that the oil on the track was not affecting lap times. When he left the pits on his second set of tyres he had dropped to P5, but not for long. After putting some heat into the tyres, Jack put in some very fast flying laps that catapulted him into pole position where he stayed until the final lap of qualifying when he was pushed down to P3, 0.001 seconds off P2 and only 0.2 off P1.

Jack’s qualifying times had put him in P3 for both races, a pleasing result.

Jack Goff continued his podium run last weekend in Rounds 7 & 8 of the Air Asia Renault Clio Cup at Oulton Park and took his maiden victory in front of a crowd of more than 30,000.

After his success at Thruxton at the end of April, Jack arrived at Oulton Park confident and ready to continue his Championship chase.

Saturday’s qualifying session saw Jack as one of the fastest men on the track, securing third on the grid for both races only 0.1 second off the pole sitter.

Well done Jack, everyone is extremely proud of you! A fantastic weekend all round!

Last weekend saw the Jack Goff Racing Team arrive at Thruxton for Rounds 5 & 6 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup.

Friday’s practice saw Jack suffering with problems in both sessions, with a stone going through the radiator at the beginning of session one, followed by a blow out that sent him off the circuit at Church in the second session.

Saturday’s qualifying started well and Jack sat in P2 for a while, however, he struggled with his second set of tyres and his position slipped down to P9. This meant that he would start Saturday’s race in P9 and that his second fastest lap had given him P6 for Sunday’s race.
