Another sound performance from Jack
Around 10,000 motor racing fans at Rockingham Speedway saw Jack Goff put in a solid performance in his second weekend of racing in the 2010 Renault Clio Cup with Michelin series.
Qualifying in 9th position on the grid in the Saturday race, Jack had a good start driving hard from the line down the left side of the track only to find himself boxed in on the 90 degree left hairpin at turn 2, exiting in 10th position. Working hard Jack fought on for the remaining 14 laps, retaking not only his grid position of ninth but also moving ahead into 8th where he finished the race, earning himself another 14 championship points.
Jack started the Sunday race once again in 9th grid position but this time made no mistake in quickly moving up 3 places to 6th position during the first 2 bends and challenged hard for 5th position for the next 3 laps. After several circuits of the of the fabulous Rockingham circuit under extreme pressure from Pyro team-mate Jeff Smith, Jack finally succumbed to the more experienced driver and lost position to 7th which is where he finished the race with another good 16 championship points in the bag to strengthen his 9th position on the championship leader board.
“Another solid performance from Jack and the team” said Jonathan Walters, JG Motorsport’s team manager. “Jack showed great skill and his determined character really showed through in hard racing on both days”.
