Perfect Weekend
Jack arrived at Rockingham on Friday feeling confident following a good weekend last time out at Snetterton.
He showed good pace throughout the two free practice sessions and the car felt good on both old and new tyres.
A couple of small mistakes on new tyres stopped Jack showing his true potential; even so he ended the session in P5, only 0.07 off of P1. It was clear going into qualifying it was going to be seriously tight as the top 5 were covered by less than a tenth of a second.
Qualifying
On his first set of new tyres Jack unfortunately got caught up in traffic on his best lap, but it was still good enough to give him provisional pole. A red flag then brought the session to a stop whilst a stricken car was recovered. It was decided with only 6 minutes left to put the 2nd set of new tyres straight on the car, and as he left the pits Jack was feeling confident of going even faster.
He did one warm up lap and pressed straight on with his fast lap. Instantly he went quicker again and this put him 0.35 of a second up on the rest of the field. On the last lap his team mate got within 0.2 of his time, but Jack still had a fair margin and this left him very confident for the races ahead.
Round 13
Jack got a good start and concentrated on getting his head down to pull a gap from the rest of the field.
Over the next few laps he managed to make a good gap, but then the safety car was brought out and all his advantage was gone in an instant.
At the restart Jack immediately realised that he had taken the best out of his tyres, so he decided to slow the pace down for a few laps to try and save the tyres.
He then pushed on with 5 laps to go, opened up a gap again and was able to hold on until the end.
Jack’s team mate kept the pressure on in 2nd place but Jack made sure that he didn't make any mistakes and took a stunning win.
This result was a brilliant one for Jack and also Team Pyro as it was a 1,2,3 podium lockout, with Josh Files taking 2nd and Aron Smith in 3rd.
Round 14
Jack was feeling very confident after Saturdays race.
He got another good start with James Colburn also being quick and taking the outside going round the first corner.
James then slipped in behind James Dixon. In the opening laps Jack again got his head down and pushed on to make a break for it.
The race may have looked easy from the outside but it was far from easy inside the car. Jack had to make sure that he didn't make a single mistake as in Clios, as soon as you make a mistake the rest of the pack will be back on your bumper.
Jack concentrated and counted down what seemed to him to be a 100 lap endurance race, but after the 14 laps he had managed to pull out an almost 5 second advantage on the rest of the pack at the flag.
These two wins gave Jack a huge boost heading into the last 2 races of the season and it leaves him just 26 points off of the championship win.
Jack will be heading to Brands Hatch with one clear objective: to win both races and get 2 fastest laps to give him the best possible chance of clinching the championship. It is true that Jack is the outsider in the championship but he is most definitely a contender!!!
Jack would like to say a massive thank you to Team Pyro and all at the JG Team for making this weekend possible and to all his great sponsors and supporters, they make it that bit more special when he gets a good result and their support is amazing.
